The short version

Reyd does not collect, store, or transmit your personal data to Reyd's servers. There are no accounts, no tracking, and no cloud AI processing. With iCloud Sync enabled (the default), your feeds, folders, and articles are synced across your own Apple devices via Apple's iCloud infrastructure. This can be turned off in Reyd's Settings at any time.

What Reyd does

Reyd is a personal RSS and Atom feed reader that uses on-device intelligence to analyze the emotional tone of articles and help you engage with news more intentionally. Reyd only retrieves information made publicly available through RSS and Atom feeds provided by publishers and feed providers. All analysis is performed locally on your device using Apple's on-device Foundation Models framework. Nothing is sent to Reyd's servers or any third-party AI service.

Data stored on your device

Reyd stores the following information on your device: RSS feed URLs you have added, feed content and article metadata retrieved from those feeds, and your preferences and settings within the app. This data is not accessible to Reyd or any third party.

iCloud Sync

When iCloud Sync is enabled (the default), Reyd syncs your feeds, folders, and articles across your own Apple devices using Apple's iCloud infrastructure. This data is encrypted by Apple and is not accessible to Reyd. iCloud Sync does not share your data with Reyd's servers or any third party beyond Apple's own infrastructure.

iCloud Sync can be disabled at any time in Reyd's Settings under Sync. The change takes effect after restarting the app. When disabled, all data remains on the current device only and nothing is written to iCloud. Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Network requests

When Reyd fetches RSS or Atom feeds, your device connects directly to the feed provider's servers. When you open an article for full reading, Reyd opens the publisher's original website directly on your device. These connections originate from your device and are subject to the publisher's or feed provider's own privacy policy. Reyd does not proxy, inspect, log, or intercept these requests.

On-device analysis

Article analysis is performed entirely on your device using Apple's on-device Foundation Models framework. This is distinct from the broader Apple Intelligence system, which can optionally route requests to ChatGPT for tasks the on-device model cannot handle. Reyd does not use that routing. Feed content and article data used for analysis are processed locally on your device and are never sent to ChatGPT, Reyd's servers, or any other external service.

When the on-device model is unavailable, Reyd falls back to a local heuristic system. In neither case does article content leave your device.

No analytics or crash reporting

Reyd does not use analytics services, advertising SDKs, behavioral profiling, third-party tracking technologies, or crash reporting tools. Your interaction with the app is not monitored, profiled, sold, or shared.
