Reyd

Reyd

The mood of your news.

Vision

A different relationship with news.

Reyd is a personal RSS reader that analyzes the tone of feeds you choose to follow — entirely on your device.

Modern news consumption is often built around urgency, negativity, and endless streams of information. Even when trying to disconnect, it can be difficult to avoid the emotional pressure that comes with constantly checking what happened next.

Reyd takes a quieter approach.

Using on-device intelligence, Reyd helps surface the overall atmosphere of what you read and gives you more control over how you engage with it.

Some days, staying informed does not need to mean absorbing the full emotional weight of the news cycle.

Everything happens directly on your device. Opening a news app should not mean sending your reading habits to the app developer every time it launches. Reyd is built to feel quieter, calmer, and more intentional.

Reyd is free to download. An optional upgrade unlocks additional feeds and folders.

The Mark

Two meanings, one symbol.

The mark is the Algiz rune (ᛉ), from the Elder Futhark — the oldest Germanic runic alphabet. Traditionally a symbol of protection, awareness, and creating distance from harm.

The mark also forms a split Y — two channels divided at the centre — which subtly resembles a filter. Two independent meanings that arrived at the same shape. The mark is open rather than defensive: a quiet filter that lets some things pass through while softening the weight of others.

Disclaimer

About the analysis.

Like all AI systems, Reyd's analysis is not perfect. Language models can misread tone or context, particularly in topics like cybersecurity or geopolitics where technical language can sound alarming even when describing routine events.

To improve accuracy, Reyd uses a layered classification system. Feeds are automatically categorized based on the content they contain, and each category is analyzed with prompts tailored to that type of content. If a feed is categorized incorrectly, you can change it manually at any time.

Reyd performs analysis using Apple's on-device Foundation Models framework — not the broader Apple Intelligence system. This distinction matters: Apple Intelligence can optionally route requests to ChatGPT for things the on-device model cannot handle. Reyd never does this. Feed content and article metadata are processed directly on your device and go nowhere else.

The full analysis requires a device with Apple's on-device language model: iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, any iPhone 16 model, iPad mini (7th generation), or any iPad with an M-series chip, running iOS 26 or later. On other devices — or when the on-device model is unavailable — Reyd falls back to a local heuristic system, which may be less accurate. You can always see which method was used by tapping the mood score at the top of the article view.

Contact

Feedback and contact.

Reyd is developed independently and will continue evolving over time as new edge cases, language patterns, and feed types are discovered.

If you come across a feed, article, or analysis that feels inaccurate or out of context, you are welcome to get in touch. Real-world feedback can help improve the behaviour of the system over time, although responses cannot always be guaranteed.
